Mountain Hare in Purple Heather

Summer Mountain Hare - Cairngorms National Park - Lepus timidusSummer Mountain Hare - Cairngorms National Park - Lepus timidusI spent a long time with this particular Mountain Hare, after a while they forget you're there and carry on as normal. In 2015 I'll be running guiding days and photographic workshops in the Cairngorms to photograph the Hares in purple heather.

This is a unique opportunity to capture the iconic Mountain Hare not only in its summer pelage but with an added dimension of photographing them in the glorious purple heather.

For those of you that have already had the pleasure of spending time with these beautiful creatures during the winter months this is an ideal opportunity to enhance your wildlife portfolio with some unique and stand-alone images.

Last year there was a good number of Mountain Hare Leverets around during the height of the heather being in flower.

Due to the limited time the heather is in flower, spaces are very limited.

Your fitness level for the Mountain Hare location doesn't have to be as per the Ptarmigan but you should be able and be prepared to crawl on your hands and knees and to lie on damp ground for prolonged periods.
